About the Program

Epic MegaGrants is a funding initiative where Epic Games sponsors promising Unreal Engine and UEFN projects that might not otherwise have enough resources to reach their potential.

It supports indie games, Fortnite/UEFN experiences, projects transitioning from other engines to Unreal, and other real?time 3D or open?source efforts that help the broader 3D ecosystem.

Over 2,000 grants have been supported to date, with spotlights on projects like Omno, The Green Fairy, Kibwe, and Snacko as examples of funded work.

Funding Support: Non?repayable, non?dilutive grants that can cover development, polish, or engine?transition costs, with applicants tailoring the request to their project scale.

Eligibility Criteria

Smaller studios, solo developers, and innovators using Unreal Engine or UEFN, including those with projects partially developed in other engines who wish to switch to Unreal.

Projects can include indie games, UEFN/Fortnite experiences, open?source tools, and cross?media/immersive work that advances real?time 3D or improves life for 3D creators.

Cycle 1 (2026):

• Submission window: January 12 – March 20, 2026 (closes 11:59 PM ET).
• Review: March 21 – June 14, 2026.
• Notices: June 15–19, 2026.

Cycle 2 (2026):
